March Meeting part 2

Jayne did double duty at the March meeting. She provided the door prize (a goody bag of great sewing items) won by Sherry. And she presented a program on bead embellishing.

It was not just a demonstration; it was a hands-on program. Jayne brought a big selection of beads, needles and thread for everyone to use and taught us how to do simple picot beading.

This is Jayne's mermaid from a Patty Culea pattern. Her beading is almost as heavy as a Bob Mackie gown! (Mackie made all of Cher's fabulous gowns back in the day.)

Here's an example of picot edging that Pam did during the program.

And now on to the Inspired by Song pictures!

The show-stoppers below are from Jayne's personal collection; dolls she bought at various conventions.

The dancer below is also from Jayne's collection. She was made by artist/teacher, Diane Little. We've been privileged to have Diane at our workshops and she is a wonderful teacher and so much fun!

Next are the challenge dolls made by our own club members.

"As Time Goes By" by (Pam?)

"Phantom of the Opera" by Jean

 "Wicked" by Doreen

"Salute of the Dance" by Pam and "Stairway to Heaven" by Connie

"Moonlight Serenade" by Carlyn and "Madame Butterfly" by Doreen

That's all for this month. Happy Stitching and we'll see you again in April!

March Meeting & Library Display

In the month of March, our dolls are on display at Tulsa's Hardesty Library. We have two cases in the lobby.

The left case displays dolls our members have made this past year. Many of these you've seen up close in previous posts.

We are SO blessed to have the greatest club president in the world. And she also happens to be on the library staff. Laurie did a great job arranging the display. She included some books on doll making that are available at the library...

...as well as information about the club. It's fun and gratifying to sit in the lobby and watch library patrons stop to oooh and aaaah over the dolls and inquire about the club. TDD is a lovely organization of fun, inspiring, and talented doll artists and so welcoming to new people. Whether you're an accomplished doll maker or know nothing but want to learn, don't be shy - come join us!

The right case displays our winter "Challenge Doll" which we deemed Inspired by Song.

More on these in the next post. Check back tomorrow!
