December Holiday Luncheon

Saturday, December 5, was our annual holiday luncheon & gift exchange. Pam opened her beautiful home to us. The halls were decked! The food was delish! The company was delightful! The gift exchange was great! And, extra special for us, our club matriarch, Jean, was able to join us.

Also -  bonus fun! Sherrill L. sent 3 bins of fabric & trims for us to rummage through (sadly, she's closing her business). We want to thank her for thinking of us.

For the gift exchange, we ask those who want to participate to bring a doll or doll related item in a plain paper bag. We draw numbers and choose a bag. It's always such fun to see what's inside, pass it around for ooohing and aahhing, and discover who gave it.

And now on to the dolls....

Santa was the door prize, won by Carlyn. It was a lovely afternoon. Now on to the holidays, then after that, we'll be back in the swing of doll-making. 2016 is bringing a "sports doll challenge", a fabric challenge, and an amazing summer workshop. Stay tuned!

November Show & Tell

It's November already! Where has the year gone? We've been so busy making dolls, who saw the months whizzing by? Let's see what the Dames have been up to lately...

Laurie is making "Tansy May" dolls from Paula McGee's pattern.

Teresa is practicing paperclay sculpting. Great detail!

Pam has combined some techniques learned from the Linda Misa class with her own special fairy touches.

She always adds exquisite details.

Another Paula McGee beauty! We all ooohed & aaahed over Nark's interpretation of Paula's pattern.

Check out the claws - they are real! (but I don't remember what they're from; something Nark ordered online?)

Paula's signature doll feet :)

Carlyn showed 2 of her "shoe dolls." They are so fun & whimsical.

We love how she cleverly repurposes a shoe by giving it a family & story.

See you next time!

October Show & Tell

Carlyn finished her Linda Misa workshop doll. She turned out great!

Her skirt is special - a piece of silk given to Carlyn by our dear Jean. The bodice was stamped with the gelli-plate method Linda taught. The head, breast-plate, arms & legs are all paper clay.

Jack finished his workshop doll, too. Always unique!!

He used his embroidery machine wizardry to make the torso & legs.

Nark said she's shown the pumpkin lady before, but it was fun to see her again on this lovely October day!

Sharon brought (and wore) this neat pin doll.

Annie made the door prize. Everyone oohed & aahed over this sweet picture. A paper doll dressed out in pink crepe paper.

Jennepher's been on a winning streak with door prizes - she won again this month!

Several of our members are dealing with some health issues. We miss them very much at our meetings, workshops, & play dates.
