October Show & Tell

Carlyn finished her Linda Misa workshop doll. She turned out great!

 Her skirt is special - a piece of silk given to Carlyn by our dear Jean.The bodice was stamped with the gelli-plate method Linda taught. The head, breast-plate, arms & legs are all paper clay.

Jack finished his workshop doll, too. Always unique!!

He used his embroidery machine wizardry to make the torso & legs.

Nark said she's shown the pumpkin lady before, but it was fun to see her again on this lovely October day!

Sharon brought (and wore) this neat pin doll.

Annie made the door prize. Everyone oohed & aahed over this sweet picture. A paper doll dressed out in pink crepe paper.

Jennepher's been on a winning streak with door prizes - she won again this month!

Several of our members are dealing with some health issues. We miss them very much at our meetings, workshops, & play dates.

September Show & Tell

The month that introduces lovely fall! And we have some lovely dolls to show off. This was our quarterly Saturday meeting and the turnout was great. Our prez covered old business, talked about the upcoming workshop with Linda Misa, and lotsa new ideas were floated for future projects. And then, our favorite part of the meeting - Show & Tell!

Shirley made this adorable Lady Bug.

Here's proof that we can be one, united nation! These were also made by Shirley.

 Our friends from Arkansas made the trip to be with us on a warm September Saturday.

They brought a round-robin doll, from their local group, where everyone added something to the doll, then passed it on. All that love & creativity in one doll - no wonder she's so pretty!

Carlyn has been practicing faces, putting to use the techniques learned in Marla Niederer's class.

Teresa has been practicing faces, too. Look at those big blue eyes!

Connie finally finished her "Leather & Lace" doll. She came up with the idea during the time we were working on challenge dolls for the "inspired by a song" display. She already had Stairway to Heaven in the works and started this one too late to make the display.

As most dollmakers can attest, sometimes we set projects aside and time goes by. But we eventually come back with more inspiration and the doll turns out better than originally envisioned.

"Stevie's" tambourine was made using an idea from our club mentor, Jean. It's a white cap from a pill bottle, covered in parchment paper and trimmed out. She's got one foot perched on her trunk full of leather & lace.

Shauna has been busy, busy, busy creating for various local art shows. People are always fascinated with her dolls.

 Can you guess what this one's name could be?

Editor's note: my personal favorites are the ones she makes with paverpol & silk.

The movement and colors are exquisite.

Sherry M. brought the door prize, a simply sweet lady made of burlap.

August Show & Tell

So the dog days of summer must have started early for our club members!

We had lots of club news to discuss, but only two ladies brought show & tell. (Maybe everyone else has projects in the works for next time!)

But the dolls we got to see were worth a whole meeting.

This is Carlyn's fairy swinging on her rustic garden swing. There's something very unique about her...

 Her wings are real cicada wings that Carlyn carefully painted!

 Doreen has been spending the hot days getting into the Christmas spirit.

These cuties are made with  Cindee Moyer's "Treesa" pattern.

This is a fun and easy pattern to make. Cindee's dolls are so whimsical.
