Merry Christmas from The Dames!

Today was our annual Christmas Luncheon. We always have a gift exchange of dolls, sewing related, or hand-crafted items. Here are the surprises that popped out of the bags today:

From all of us at Tulsa Dolling Dames,we wish you all

the joy & peace symbolized in this special season!

We'll resume normal monthly meetings on Saturday, January 3. That's right - Saturday! In a short business meeting today, it was unanimously agreed to move our meetings to Saturdays, noon at Hardesty Library. We have fun things planned for 2017. Hope you can join us!

Just Steampunk!

The new issue of "Just Steampunk" magazine is out and one of our club members and one of our favorite teachers are included!

This is Connie's version of a pattern created by Barbara Schoenoff called Circus Girl. Instead of costuming her in bright circus colors, she did her in black & white; also replacing juggling balls with gears and other Steampunk style accessories.

They also showed off doll artist, Paula McGee's, Steampunk Humpty Dumpties. You can purchase Paula's whimsical creations on Etsy. Click here.

October Show & Tell

Happy Autumn! Our October meeting consisted of a long discussion about the state Fair entries and planning how we can be more effective next year; upcoming get-togethers, Show & Tell, and fabric pillaging.

This was a doll started by Barbara and finished by Doreen. It's a Cindee Moyer pattern called "Sweeping Beauty."

This is a cute & clever Topsy Turvy doll made by Kathy.

It totally flips and becomes a blonde cutie.

This is Connie's Steampunk Time Traveler. She started out from a Sherry Goshon "Paris" pattern and then totally went off-script!

Doreen won the door prize, sent by Jayne (Jayne, we missed you!). Kathy brought four tubs of fabric for us to plunder. That's always so much fun! And that's it for this month. See you in November!

August Show & Tell

Lazy Summer Days! But our Dames have been busy finishing dolls begun months ago and making new ones. Here are some wonderful creations presented at our August meeting.

This is Laura's mermaid from the Arley Berryhill workshop.

Another of Laura's dolls. Her outfit is a beautiful, repurposed blouse.

Jayne's ribbon-winning doll from last year's state fair.

Janis finished her mythical creature from Linda Misa's workshop.

This is Doreen's work in progress, the Paris pattern by Sherry Goshon. We worked on this pattern together at our recent workshop. Hopefully we'll be seeing more "Paris" dolls next month.

Another of Doreen's lovelies.

Lisa made the door prize. She was won by Janis. (we're going to stop letting Janis buy door prize tickets; she's had quite a winning streak!)

She's just cute as a button!

Carlyn presented the program. She did a hands-on demonstration of how to make clay teeth for your dolls. She brought several of her own toothy dolls as examples.

His feet were just too cute; had to show them!

That's all for August! Please visit us again in September.
